Second day of our journey was much better than first. I mean weather was much better. Sun was our friend at that day. Even though I don’t prefer to take pictures in sunny day, it was nice to walk in dry conditions. We hiked around 30 km to reach Pitsusjärvi, the “base camp” for Halti. From Pitsusjärvi there was only going to be 12 km left to highest point of Finland. We did this long day because the weather was really nice and we knew that next day we only needed daypacks for trip to Halti. Our feet was pretty sore after this day.
Meekonvaara (1020m) is also really beautiful fell in Lapland. It has nice vertical wall which is uncommon in Finland. This spot was maybe the best place to see Meekonvaara. There’s nice river with a bridge to give something more for the picture. There was also another cool fell in opposite direction called Saivaara. In the top of Saivaara there’s a plaque for president Urho Kekkonen. You can see a black & white picture of Saivaara in a behind the scene section.
Next picture will be also from day 2.
